Sunday School

Our Sunday School programs are from 9:15–10:15 am every Sunday.

Elementary Sunday School Class, Third Floor

(Grades 3–6)

We will be using Group’s “Grapple: Pre-teens Toughest Questions. The Bible’s Smartest Answers” Somewhere between leaving childhood behind and treading wide-eyed into the teenage years lurk a thousand bewildering questions.

  • Where did God come from?
  • How come I’m not perfect?
  • How can I go to heaven?

These lessons—based on real questions asked by real 9 to 12 year-olds—grab their attention and don’t let go. Kids will learn how to search the Bible for answers and build a faith foundation that guides wise choices. Each class will feature an activity/game, Bible lesson, Q & A time.

Middle School Girls Class, Room 301

(Grades 6-8)

The girls will be reading “Just Us Girls: A Bible Study on Being God’s Girl in Middle School”.  Life gets tough. People get mean. How do we push through? What does God’s plan mean for our lives? What does it mean to be God’s girl in middle school? Well, that’s what Just Us Girls is all about. Together we’re going to search the Word of God and find out:

* who you were meant to be
* what to do about drama
* where to find a good friend
* how beautiful you really are
* why God picked you to change the world

High Sunday School Class, Room 302

(Grades 9-12)

This class uses the David C. Cook Bible-in-Life Series, which is designed to appeal to different learning styles and to help children understand the application of God’s Word to their own lives. Each child is provided a “Make-it/Take-it” craft book sheet and “My Sunday Pictures” to help them remember the weekly Bible story. Playtime, craft time, and snack time round out their Sunday School experience.

  • What is the Bible, anyway?
  • Does God discriminate against women?
  • Does God endorse violence?
  • Is it wrong to doubt God?
  • Why do bad things happen to good people?
  • Why do Christians do bad things?

Adult (various rooms)

Different Sunday School classes give adults of all ages ample opportunities to find a study that meets their interests and personalities! Stop by the Welcome Desk on Sunday morning for more information about which class might be right for you. Better still, try a class for a Sunday or two.

Alpha Fellowship Class (Library, 1st Floor)

The Alpha Fellowship class meets in the library, so is accessible for those who are mobility-challenged.  It is a co-ed team-teaching class, currently with six women and men taking regular turns leading the class.  We use the classic David C. Cook “Bible In Life” version of the International Sunday School lessons, which works through the entire Bible every seven years.  We encourage everyone to dig deeper and to share insights on what scripture meant and means.

Early Elementary Sunday School Class

(Kindergarten–2nd grade)

The “Bible for Children” curriculum. Each child is provided a weekly handout with the Bible story.  During the Sunday School lesson, the children color their handout.  The children are encouraged to read aloud parts of the Bible story. (Martha Hollomon, teacher)
