Mission-focused Groups

Calvary Baptist Men

Dates and times vary. See calendar for upcoming dates

Calvary Baptist Men is a group of men, teens, and boys who strive to strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ through fellowship, biblical study, service to the church, and outreach to the community. Typical activities include an annual steak fry, bell-ringing for the Salvation Army, participating in the Habitat for Humanity build, and breakfasts at the church with special guest speakers. Each August we also attend the annual American Baptist Men’s retreat at Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, which is a great opportunity to worship, meet new friends, and fellowship with the Calvary men who attend.

American Baptist Women

Every lady of Calvary is invited to be a part of this wonderful group. Along with prayer, beautiful devotions, and refreshments (from a light breakfast to a full luncheon), our meetings focus on an array of service activities. We collect the Love Gift, an offering for American Baptist Mission and Ministry. We send sunshine to church members who are sick or celebrating birthdays. We prepare bandages for White Cross, an organization supported by Baptist Missions We provide desserts to the Newark Senior Center to be given to recipients of Meals on Wheels. We perform as the Calvary Bell Choir during special holiday seasons. We bake homemade cookies for incarcerated men at Christmas. And, we make quilts to be given to shut-ins—involvement in this project can be as simple as cutting squares of material, so no one is left out if they feel they don’t possess a particular talent for sewing. Our goal is to share in fellowship with the ladies of our church, to grow in God’s love and spirit, and to do meaningful things that will honor our Lord.
